interlanguage was founded in Modena, Italy in 1986 by a group of translators and interpreters sharing a feel for the business and a vision of the future. Over the years, the company grew steadily to become a flexible language services provider recognised for its high levels of competence, specialisation, and efficiency.
In the process of internationalisation that swept through the languages industry in the 90s interlanguage was ideally placed to take advantage of the birth of the Internet and market globalisation, expanding its customer base to include businesses based in other parts of Europe and in North America.
In 2001 the company became one of the first Italian translation centres to gain certification of its internal Quality System and Translation/Interpretation Service – a milestone that marked the dawn of a new phase of development for the organisation.
In 2010 this quality system was brought into line with the new versions of the standards, resulting in the company’s achievement of triple certification with UNI EN ISO 9001:2008 for its Quality System, UNI 15038:2006 for its Translation Service and UNI 10574:2007 for its Interpreting Service.
A 18-strong team currently covers activities that range from proofreading to coordinating the Company’s network of almost 1000 freelancers, all of which have been carefully selected according to their linguistic skills and professionalism.
Around 50% of turnover is currently derived from foreign customers, mainly in Switzerland.
