Foreign Language Stenotyping
In addition to the court interpretation service, interlanguage supplies a foreign language electronic stenotyping service when evidence delivered in a foreign language must be recorded in written form in real time.
Electronic stenotyping consists in using a specific device (stenotype machine) to type a summary of spoken words in compliance with the shorthand principle. The stenotype machine is connected to a PC that decodes the symbols and reproduces the words on the screen, thereby generating normal text that can be printed for use immediately.
The use of electronic stenotyping makes it possible to reduce trial times and to produce, in real time, a draft transcript that is faithful to the spoken words. The resulting service is of a higher level of quality compared to other forms of record taking from verbal proceedings.
At a later time, the text obtained from the stenotype input can be rechecked by the stenotypist and re-transcribed, for use in digital or hard copy format and for translation, if required.
